Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules for using the LogTide platform. It applies to all users of the cloud-hosted service at app.logtide.dev. Self-hosted users are encouraged to adopt similar guidelines.
1. Permitted Use
LogTide is designed for legitimate log management, monitoring, and observability purposes, including:
- Collecting, storing, and analyzing application and infrastructure logs
- Setting up alerts and notifications based on log patterns
- Security monitoring and threat detection using Sigma rules
- Compliance auditing and log retention
- Debugging and troubleshooting applications
2. Prohibited Activities
You must not use the Service to:
2.1 Illegal or Harmful Activity
- Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Store or transmit data that you do not have the right to collect or process
- Facilitate illegal activities or process proceeds of crime
- Violate export control or sanctions regulations
2.2 Abuse of the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service infrastructure
- Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or security controls
- Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining or resource-intensive non-logging tasks
- Resell or sublicense the cloud Service without authorization
2.3 Harmful Content
- Store malware, viruses, or other malicious code as log data intentionally
- Use the Service to distribute spam or unsolicited communications
- Store content that violates intellectual property rights
2.4 Security Violations
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorization
- Exploit security vulnerabilities instead of reporting them responsibly
- Attempt to reverse-engineer non-open-source components of the Service
3. Data Compliance
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring that log data you send complies with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Not sending sensitive personal data (health records, financial data, credentials) as log content unless you have appropriate safeguards in place
- Implementing appropriate data retention policies for your use case
- Obtaining necessary consents from data subjects whose information may appear in logs
4. Resource Usage
- Use the Service resources reasonably and as intended for log management
- Do not intentionally generate excessive log volume to abuse the Service
- We reserve the right to throttle or limit usage that negatively impacts other users
5. Responsible Disclosure
If you discover a security vulnerability in LogTide, we ask that you report it responsibly:
- Report vulnerabilities to [email protected]
- Allow reasonable time for us to address the issue before public disclosure
- Do not exploit vulnerabilities to access other users' data
6. Enforcement
Violation of this AUP may result in:
- Warning and request to cease the prohibited activity
- Temporary suspension of your account
- Permanent termination of your account
- Reporting to relevant authorities where required by law
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the Service or other users.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Website. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
